HELPING THOSE TO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL SMILE

Guatemala, February 2006

Dear Friends;

We did it again! And yet again we were able to reach our goals, touch the lives of those who had been forgotten by most everybody. We searched for them, we found them, and the most beautiful part: We helped them. The youngest was 2 months old, and the oldest a nice and gentle 74 year-old grandpa.

All of those helped now have far better opportunities to be normal people who will interact with people from their communities just like everybody else. It is a long way to go with them, as they will need a few more surgeries before the problems are completely resolved and it is a series of different surgeries which will be done step-by-step.

We want to thank Alvaro A. Figueroa, DDS, MS Co-Director Rush Craniofacial Center, together with his team, who did a wonderful job and is a very professional, loving and caring team. The world should have more people like them!

Thanks to “Hospital Infantil Semillas de Esperanza” in the town of Teculután, who kindly allowed us to use their facilities along with their wonderful medical staff.

It is also important to give recognition to the Sharing the Dream organization, and to all of those listed below who helped to make this dream a reality:

-Luci wyatt

-Heartwood Creations

-Donor on Vancouver Island

-Trova Imports

-Chin Nguyen

-Bachelor of Applied Nonprofit Studies program at Mount Royal College in Calgary

-David Quiroa from Guatemala

Guatemala’s staff together with Naomi and Marcos from Spain, Iris and Diane from Holland, and Elizabeth from the U.S. worked with all their hearts to make this dream come true for so many.

We have photos of the children before and after the surgery, as well!  If you wish to see one of these beautiful faces after total recuperation, please let us know and we will try to get back to many of those we've helped and take a picture that you can keep as a reminder of how easy it is to bring happiness to those who suffer, how easy is to get them out from under their unnecessary shame and hidden lives.

Unfortunately we probably did not get the project report to all of you on time, and as a result, the funds we collected did not cover all the expenses of the 54 cases we did. We now must find the balance from somewhere, and we don’t know how, but we trust that something will happen and that we will be able to cover the difference.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read about this incredible project, and thank you very much for your support!

Angie
