Ed and I got up early and took a long walk with Jane.  It is quite hilly around Pana so of course that was the route we went on.  We walked up to a road overlooking Santa Catalina which is an interesting little town not too far from Pana.  This was going to be a relaxing day so we weren't going to do much.  I did have a chance to visit with Jane.  She started a project called Maya Traditions and works with 5 different groups around the lake.  This is the group that we get the dolls from.  It was interesting to learn more about the groups, the Pana area and other things in Guatemala.  She is very interesting in health care around the lake. She has a beautiful herb garden behind the bungalows and before you get to her house on the hill.  We went down to the market. It was interesting to see how Ana reacted since she has not been to Guatemala since we adopted her when she was almost 4.  She enjoyed going in and out of the booths. Of course Ana likes to shop so this was just her thing.  Steph looked at jewelry and I looked at rugs for the shop.  Ed Brought his book along and periodically would sit down and read.  We stopped for lunch at a nice restaurant and sat outside.  We had decided Ana and I were going to make quasidillas for supper so we needed to shop for cheese. Tortillas and the ingredients for salsa.  We stopped at a tienda to get the cheese but went to the open-air market for the vegetables.  Ana enjoyed seeing the fresh produce and picking out the ingredients for the salsa.

When we got back we made the salsa and quasidillas and had a nice quiet evening.  We had the Spanish channel on the radio and played cards.  It was nice not to have televisions to distract us.

So long for now.  I will write more later. Right now we are on our way to Antiqua.
